Decide what happens based on a condition.
How Much Does Each Car Owe for Parking?
A parking garage tracks how long each car stayed. The free parking limit (in hours) is in cell D1, and the fee for exceeding that limit is in D2. If a car stays longer than the free limit, it pays the fee; otherwise, it pays nothing. Complete the Fee column by writing a formula for the first car (Car 1) that calculates what each car owes — either the fee (if it went over the limit) or 0 (if it parked free). Write the formula for the first row only; it will be copied down for all cars. Requirements: Use the IF function in your formula to solve this problem.
Should the Greenhouse Send an Alert?
A greenhouse tracks daily temperature and humidity. If the temperature exceeds 30°C or humidity falls below 40%, the day is flagged as bad. In the Status column, write a formula for the first row (Monday) that returns "Alert" if either condition is met, and "OK" otherwise. The formula will be copied down for all days. Requirements: Use both the IF and OR functions in your formula to solve this problem.
Who Gets Approved for a Car Rental?
A car rental company approves a rental only if the customer is at least 25 years old and has a valid license, both conditions must be true. In the Decision column, write a formula for the first row (Anna) that returns "Approved" if both rules are met, or "Denied" if either is not. It will be copied down for all customers. Requirements: Your formula must use the IF and AND functions.
Does This Task Need a Follow-Up?
An office tracks tasks, each with a status of Done, In progress, or Not started. The manager wants a follow-up for every task that is NOT marked as Done. In the Action column, enter "Follow up" if the task still needs attention, or "Closed" if it is finished. Your formula must return exactly "Follow up" or exactly "Closed". Write the formula for the FIRST row (Send invoice) only; it will be copied down the whole column. Requirements: Your formula must use the IF and NOT functions.
